Before you do
This removes your journal, your photographs, your voice notes and your growth records permanently. It cannot be undone, and I cannot recover it for you afterwards — that is what “deleted” has to mean for it to be worth anything.
If you only want a break, signing out is enough. Everything waits for you. And if you want a copy of your memories first, email hello@daysandtales.com and ask for an export before you delete — I will send it.
In the app
- Open Days and Tales and sign in.
- Go to More, at the bottom right.
- Tap Delete my account.
- Enter your password to confirm it is you, and confirm the warning.
Deletion begins immediately. Your account stops working straight away, and every device signed into it is signed out.
If you can’t get into the app
Deleted it already, or can’t sign in? Email hello@daysandtales.com from the address on your account and ask me to delete it. I will confirm it is really you, do it, and write back to tell you it is done — within 30 days at the outside, and usually the same week.
What actually gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in details.
- Every journal entry, story page and milestone.
- Every photograph and voice recording, removed from storage — not just unlinked from the app.
- Height, weight and every other record about your child.
- Your subscriber record at RevenueCat, our billing provider.
It goes from the live systems immediately. Copies persist briefly in encrypted backups until those are overwritten in the normal cycle, within 30 days. Records of the transactions themselves are kept for six years because UK tax law requires it — those are receipts, and contain nothing about your family.
If you share a family with someone
If other people are in your family space, deleting your own account does not delete theirs, and it does not delete the child’s journal out from under them. If you are the family owner, you will be asked to hand ownership to another parent first — or, if you would rather everything went, to delete the whole family space instead. The app makes that choice explicit at the time so nobody loses a journal by accident.
Your subscription is separate
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Apple controls that and I cannot cancel it for you. To stop the payments:
Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Days and Tales → Cancel Subscription
Do that before you delete the account, or you may keep being charged for something you can no longer use.
Your other rights
As well as deletion, you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, or object to how it is used. The Privacy Policy covers all of it, and every route starts with the same email address.
